We’re often asked if candles can be used to help you sleep and if so, how? Candles can be used to create a calming and relaxing atmosphere that can help promote sleep. Here are a few tips on how to use candles to help you sleep.
Choosing a calming scent
The following scents are good for sleep: lavender, jasmine, vanilla, and chamomile. They are known to promote relaxation and sleep. Look for candles that are made with essential oils or natural fragrances to get maximum impact from the scent.
Create a bedtime routine
It's time for rituals of relaxation. Incorporating candles into a bedtime routine can help signal to the body that it's time to relax and sleep. Light a candle before getting into bed, and use it to read or meditate for a few minutes before turning off the light.
Use a low-light candle
Candles that emit a soft, warm glow can create a relaxing atmosphere without disrupting the body's natural production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep.
Place candles in the bedroom
Placing a candle or two in the bedroom can create a calming ambiance that can help you fall asleep. If using an essential oil candle like FLORA (Lavender and Mandarin), you don’t need to light it in order to get the scent. Don’t go to sleep with an open flame, just place the candle by your bed without the lid in to help the scent diffuse through the room.
